If you’re here because somebody sent you a t-shirt or a picture of a cow poster, yes, that’s us.

PHOTOS & VIDEO

We’ve received photos of the posters, flyers, shirts, cow-sighting materials, empty cow pastures, and the campaign showing up around the U of A campus and Fayetteville.

Uncle Gary has been saying for years that aliens are taking the cows. Then 2026 got weird. A former President said aliens are real. Five days later, the President said he would begin releasing government files related to aliens and UFOs. In July, the USDA reported 28.5 million beef cows in the U.S. as of July 1, 2026, down about 1% or 200,000 from the year before.

That was enough for me to start paying attention.

Alongside our followers, we put up the first posters around the University of Arkansas and Fayetteville. We started asking people to report cow sightings, and we built UncleGaryWasRight.com so we could keep track of it all in one place. The idea is simple: if the cows are still out there, people should be able to find them.

WHAT’S GOING ON

They Took the Cows started with Uncle Gary’s long-running belief that aliens are responsible for disappearing cattle and the increasingly inconvenient fact that the cattle numbers are moving in the wrong direction.

People can report cow sightings at UncleGaryWasRight.com, download flyers and put them up where they live, and send us photos when the posters start showing up in the wild.

THE SHORT VERSION

Uncle Gary Was Right is a grassroots cow-sighting effort started by a University of Arkansas student after current headlines began lining up a little too well with Uncle Gary’s long-held theory that aliens are taking the cows. Posters, flyers, a public cow-sighting form, and other materials are appearing around Fayetteville and online as people help track sightings and try to answer one fairly basic question: where did the cows go?

PRESS CAN USE THESE QUOTES:

“In February 2026, the US government confirmed aliens are real. Five days later, the President said he would release government files on aliens and UFOs. Then in July, the USDA reported there are 200,000 fewer beef cows than last year. That’s the lowest level in 75 years. Uncle Gary’s been saying for years that aliens are taking the cows. So we started putting up posters, built a website, and asked people to report sightings and help us count them.”

“This matters because beef shortages are hurting people’s wallets right now. We’re importing more beef from other countries because there aren’t enough American cows. The USDA expects the U.S. to import more than 6 billion pounds of beef this year. Uncle Gary’s question is simple: where did they go?”

“This started because beef got expensive and my uncle already had an explanation. Unfortunately, his explanation was aliens.”

“People keep asking me for proof. That’s why we started asking people to report the cows themselves at UncleGaryWasRight.com.”

“We’re not asking people to believe in aliens. We’re asking them to count the cows.”

“Uncle Gary’s been saying they took the cows for years. Today, he’s pointing to beef prices as proof.”

“Every time somebody reports another cow, we take it as proof. Every time somebody doesn’t report a cow, we also takes that as proof.”

“I’m not saying aliens took the cows. I’m saying Uncle Gary would like the record to show he called it.”

“We put up a few posters. Apparently that’s all it takes to start a movement now. We thought maybe twelve people would think it was funny. Now strangers are reporting cows to us on our website.”

“People think this is about aliens. It’s about accountability.”

“I ignored Uncle Gary for a long time. The cattle numbers made that harder.”

Uncle Gary has been sharing his wild ideas over turkey and pumpkin pie for a couple decades now. Somewhere along the way, they started sounding less wild. Then other people started saying them too. Now it’s become a whole movement.

Uncle Gary may not be right. But it’s getting harder to prove him wrong.
